Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Cashfox (the "Service"), you confirm that you're at least 18 years old, have read these Terms of Service (the "Terms"), and agree to be bound by them. If you're using Cashfox on behalf of a business or organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity to these Terms.

If you don't agree, please don't use the Service. We'd be sad to see you go, but your comfort matters more than our conversion rate.

2. Description of Services

Cashfox is a personal finance tracking tool. It helps you organize budgets, log expenses, set financial goals, and monitor your net worth, all in one place. The goal is to give you clarity on where your money goes and how your daily choices connect to your longer-term ambitions.

We provide features including but not limited to: monthly budget planning, expense logging and categorization, goal tracking with projected timelines, and net worth snapshots. We may add, modify, or remove features at any time. Significant changes will be communicated in advance where reasonably possible.

3. Account Registration and Security

To use most features, you'll need to create an account using a valid email address and password, or via Google OAuth. You agree to provide accurate information and keep it up to date.

You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. Cashfox will never ask for your password over email or chat. If you suspect unauthorized access to your account, notify us immediately at legal@cashfox.app.

We use Supabase for authentication and data storage. All data is protected by Row Level Security so only you can access your own financial information.

4. Free and Paid Plans

Cashfox offers a free tier with core features, and paid plans that unlock additional functionality. Paid subscriptions are billed through Stripe. By upgrading, you authorize Cashfox to charge your payment method on the billing cycle you select (monthly or annually).

You may cancel your paid subscription at any time through your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. We don't offer prorated refunds for mid-cycle cancellations unless required by applicable law, but you'll retain access until the period ends.

We reserve the right to modify pricing. We'll give you at least 30 days' notice before any price change applies to your existing subscription.

5. User Responsibilities and Conduct

You agree to use Cashfox only for lawful personal finance tracking. You must not:

• Attempt to reverse engineer, copy, scrape, or redistribute any part of the Service
• Use automated bots, crawlers, or scripts to access the Service without written permission
• Impersonate another person or submit false information to manipulate the Service
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts or data
• Upload malicious code, viruses, or content designed to disrupt the Service
• Use the Service in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations

Violations may result in immediate account suspension or termination, at our discretion.

All content, branding, design, code, illustrations, and assets in the Cashfox Service are owned by or licensed to Cashfox and its creators, unless otherwise noted. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from any part of the Service without prior written consent.

"Cashfox," the fox logo, and associated brand elements are trademarks of Cashfox. Unauthorized use of these marks is prohibited.

8. User Data and Content

You own your financial data. The numbers you enter (budgets, expenses, goals, net worth snapshots) belong to you. By using the Service, you grant Cashfox a limited license to store, process, and display that data solely to provide the Service to you.

You can export your data at any time from within the app. If you delete your account, we'll delete your data from our systems within a reasonable timeframe, subject to any legal retention obligations.

We may use anonymized, aggregated usage data (never personally identifiable) to improve the Service.

9. Privacy

Your privacy matters to us. How we collect, use, and protect your personal information is described in our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using Cashfox, you agree to the practices described there.

10. Third-Party Services

Cashfox integrates with third-party providers to power core functionality:

• Supabase for authentication and database storage
• Stripe for payment processing on paid plans
• Google OAuth as an optional sign-in method
• Amazon Web Services (S3, CloudFront, Lambda) for hosting and serverless infrastructure

Your use of these integrated services is subject to their own terms and privacy policies. We're not responsible for the practices of third-party providers, but we vet the services we work with.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure. We disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Financial calculations and projections in the app are tools based on user-entered data. We make no guarantees about their accuracy for any real-world financial outcome.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Cashfox, its owners, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service, including any financial losses arising from reliance on information in the app.

In jurisdictions that don't allow the exclusion of certain damages, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted. In no event will our total liability exceed the amount you paid to Cashfox in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $100 USD, whichever is greater.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Cashfox and its creators, officers, and contractors from any claims, losses, damages, liabilities, or legal fees arising out of: your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party right (including intellectual property or privacy rights).

14. Termination

Either party may terminate these Terms at any time. You can close your account in Settings. We may suspend or terminate your access immediately if we believe you've violated these Terms, without liability to you.

On termination, your right to use the Service ends. We'll retain and delete your data per our Privacy Policy. Sections 7, 11, 12, 13, and 15 survive termination.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Cashfox operates, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.

16. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make meaningful changes, we'll notify you by email or by placing a notice in the app at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continuing to use Cashfox after the effective date means you accept the revised Terms.

We'll always keep a dated version here so you can see what changed.
